AST Engineering Inc. is the Design and Engineering Services division of the AST Group of Companies. We have more than 35 years of experience in the dust collector, ventilation system, and air separation technology fields. Our sister company AST Canada is the largest supplier of Donaldson Torit Dust, Mist and Fume Collectors in Ontario.
What We Do
Engineering Design Objective
Our design objective is to engineer systems that fulfill your process requirements and your company’s unique needs. Our design considerations include these factors: duct sizing, intake point calibration (i.e. fume hoods, process booths, etc), filtration ratios, media types, Worker Health and Safety, NFPA standards, efficiency, and impact to the process.
Industrial Dust Collector System Design
Dust collection system design in accordance with regulations consistent with material handling guidelines and safety requirements for your specific industry. As part of the overall design, we will specify specific dust collector types, the filter-type requirements and any modifications or options necessary to meet regulations.
VENTILATION SYSTEM DESIGN
Ventilation system design must take into account the type of materials being handled, airflow, pressure, explosion mitigation and pollution control then produce a clean-air solution for the plant interior and meet environmental regulations for outside air quality.
Workplace Safety
A Pre-Start Health and Safety Report is a machine safety compliance review for equipment or processes being installed or modified in a manufacturing environment, prior to deployment. We also design systems dedicated to work-environment safety through dust collection, workplace ventilation and fire suppression systems.
Dust Collection System Evaluation
We provide dust collection system evaluation based on the contaminant type and required airflow. We offer turn-key solutions that are custom-tailored to our client’s needs. We can evaluate systems for current regulations or for future additional processes being added.
Project Estimation
AST Engineering, as part of the project design, can provide professional cost-estimating services for dust-collection & ventilation system projects. Dependable estimates are critical to the success of any undertaking — it is important to understand the total estimated cost of a project and the components that make up the total to minimize cost overruns and ensure proper capitalization of the project.
AST Engineering has decades of experience in cost engineering and a robust database of equipment, supplies & options costs for the dust collection and ventilation system industries. As part of the system design we can calculate complete estimates of startup & ongoing operational costs of any system you require.
Dust Hazard Analysis
AST Engineering Inc. performs facility assessments, including combustible dust hazard analysis (DHA). We design systems to meet workplace safety and environmental legislation across Ontario.
Building Permit Acquisition
Building Permits are required for any new builds or alterations to existing facilities. Building permits are usually issued by municipal or regional governments and often consider regulations from several governing bodies who have jurisdiction over the land use in your area — as such, building permit requirements vary across the province and building permit requests must be packaged specifically for the department receiving them. AST Engineering has ample experience with the various jurisdictions across Ontario and can help facilitate the granting of the Building Permits for your project.
